Τhe shadow of the night. The teeth in the darkness. Stealth, quiet I fall on to the earth chasing the blue sheep vertically down the mountain” As choreographers and dancers Danae Dimitriadi and Dionysios Alamanos studied the snow leopard, they became interested in the cold environment it makes its home, its rarity, and the fact that it is near impossible to see it with bare eyes. Their inspiration led to UNCIA, a powerful yet poetic experience before the eyes of a bewitched spectator. The duo will present their piece at the 13th SoloDuo nrw + friends / International Dance Festival in Cologne.

#ABOUT
UNCIA is a duet that was extracted from Danae and Dionysios’ full-evening show ATMA. It is inspired by the word metamorphosis and the image of a shapeshifting creature.
“The sound of the bell leads you to the top of the mountain, where you can see the elephants in the sky playing with each other. As they deep their trunks into the river, the sky fills with water. Falling from a distance it turned into snow, changing the colour of the sky from blue to grey”.
UNCIA has been presented to venues and festival across the world, counting more than fifty shows in eleven countries. The performance has also received awards in The Netherlands and Germany, such as: the XL Production Award at Rotterdam International Duet Choreographic Competition (RIDCC), the Collaboration Award with Club Guy & Roni, the Collaboration Award with Conny Janssen Danst and the Second Award at Hannover International Choreographic Competition
#READ MORE
Danae Dimitriadi and Dionysios Alamanos two Greek artists who have been working together since 2015.
In that time, they have created four works together: UNCIA, ATMA, Free At Last and War Never Came. Stories of tribes and untamed animals that could not adjust or endure become the canvas of Danae and Dionysios.
In their works, the artists propose harmonic relationships between nature and its living inhabitants, breaking the stereotypical hierarchy, while the dreamlike atmosphere which usually wraps their work takes the audience into a journey in space and time where it becomes a witness of a conflict between chaos and order.
